Landscape Section - Sat 4th October 2025

'Crondall'

N.B. The original date, 5th July, has been rearranged to allow more people to attend.

The Crondall Society, which will be hosting our visit, has booked the Village Hall as our base. The address is: Croft Lane, Crondall, Hampshire, GU10 5QF; what3words. There should be ample parking outside the village hall but if necessary cars can be parked across the road by the wall around the church.

Programme:

  • 10.15 - 10.30 - Registration, welcome, coffee or tea with cake & biscuits; to be held in the Village Hall.

  • 10.30 - 11.00 - introduction to Crondall and the Crondall Society (in the meeting room) from Mary Porter and Mel Puddick.

  • 11.00 - 12.30 - A walk around the village centre highlightin key architectural features with Mike Jefferies.

  • 12.30 - 1.30 approx - Lunch - a table will be booked at the Plume of Feathers or there will be the option to eat a packed lunch in the Village Hall. (Please indicate in your booking if you wish to eat at the pub.)

    Inside the church

  • 1.30 approx - 3.00 - In the Village Hall, there will be a talk on:'The Hidden Origins of Crondall' - Robin Assael will highlight how All Saints holds many secrets as to the people, history and conflicts that have helped to shape the community.

  • Break

  • 3.00 - 4.00 - in the Village Hall, Mary Porter and Mel Puddick will give a talk entitled ‘If the Chalkboards Could Talk’ . It will be a presentation on the 200 Year History of Crondall School.

  • 4.00 - 5.00 - A short visit to the church to look at some of the points raised by Robin in his talk.
