Field Club Focus

General editor David Allen

At the recent 'inter-counties' archaeological societies meeting (16 February) Peter Roberts, Kay Ainsworth and David Allen were able to report that the Field Club was in fine fettle, with good attendances for meetings and outings and a good publication record (many thanks go to Nick Stoodley for steering Hampshire Studies 59, 2004 safely home before Christmas). The Council is not complacent, however, and recently spent a long time discussing the difficulties surrounding postings. Their apologies go to anyone who was inconvenienced in January and they intend to introduce measures to ensure a smoother distribution in future.

To return to our neighbouring counties: all of our neighbours have a larger membership than we do, and this is something the President hopes to be able to address. They do all have premises, which serve as a useful focus, but also bring a number of problems. We have no premises, but we do have a library, and here Hon Librarian Chris Woolgar reminds us of its overall content, how to find catalogues on-line, and where to apply to borrow a book.
